The operations of the Qingyuan site will be managed by VTech Communications Ltd. The Qingyuan site has 89,000 square metres and the entire site will be developed in four phases over two years, by the end of 2006. For initial phase, there are 40 plastic injection machines with size ranged from 50 tons to 250 tons. For tooling making, there are x2 CNC machines from Germany, x4 CNC machines from Japan, x3 Wirecutting machines from Japan, x8 EDM machines from Japan, x3 EDM machines from Taiwan and x1 Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) from UK. After completion, there will be 200 plastic injection machines with size ranged from 50 tons to 850 tons. The total investment in the machinery will be over US$10Million. Currently, the Qingyuan facility has three buildings as shown in the layout below. The first will be used for mould making and silicone rubber whereas the second will be used for plastics production and secondary processes, such as silk-screening, while the third building will be a warehouse. The Qingyuan plant is located at Zone 1, Qingyuan Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province (along Route 107). It takes about two or two-and-a-half hours to get there taking the company shuttle bus from Shenzhen. |
